Learn More About Cockroaches

Cockroaches are common pests that is frequently found in many areas of our environment and transmit diseases such as Salmonella enteritis, dysentery and gastroenteritis. These diseases may cause food poisoning symptoms such as fever, adnominal changes, diarrhea and nausea. Cockroaches may also stain surfaces or dirty fabrics that they come across . Hence, it is essential to learn more about cockroaches risks’ and damages and how we can help to prevent these problems from arising. 

There are 3 types of Cockroaches , one is American Cockroach(Periplaneta americana). These cockroaches live about 2,5 years and tend to emerge at night. They are often found in hot and humid areas such as inside buildings, drains, sewers, basements and pipe ducts. 

Next is German Cockroach (Blattella germanica). These cockroaches live about 1.5 years and tend to emerge at night. They are often found above floor level, in hot and humid areas such as kitchens, food manufacturing areas and ships. 

Lastly is Brown-Banded Cockroach (Supella longipalpa). They live less than a year and tend to emerge at night. They are often found in drier areas of buildings, cabinets and less common in kitchen. 

We should always remember to keep the place clean, by ensuring proper waste disposal, sealed all cracks and crevices, minimise any entry points, keep lids or bins closed all time and sealed all food in proper containers.
